Henry Coghlan and Amy Whitmore both grew up locally and returned to their roots, taking over the reins of the Noah’s Ark, in November 2006. Having dramatically revitalised the pub, the enthusiastic young couple brim with passion for the business with lots of ideas for the future. They are both very much hands on along with Gillie, the notoriously badly behaved Border Terrier, who if need be can be found to make your dog look very obedient.
Amy works very closely with South African born Head Chef Candice Chivers. Candice started her career in Johannesburg and at 16 she set up a stall outside her father's butchery, selling bakery goods. Candice continued her career in England and worked her way up the ladder in several establishments.
After a year at The Noah’s Ark as Sous Chef, Candice has been promoted to Head Chef. Although she admits her new role has involved a steep learning curve, she is enjoying the challenge, has endless enthusiasm and runs the kitchen with passion.
Other than the occasional French influence born from Amy's love for France they develop the Menus offering traditional British dishes with a modern twist.
The Noah’s Ark team supports as many local businesses and initiatives as possible, Candice and Amy spend many hours researching new small and local producers.
